Directors
Jorge and Isabel Ríos are the directors of YWAM Puerto Madryn. For over 17 years they have been leading YWAM in the Patagonia region of Argentina.
I am Pastor Jorge Ríos, and I am grateful for the ability to communicate with you through this site. I reflect on the faithfulness of Christ in my life, in our ministry, and in my family, remembering how God is faithful to the one accepts the challenge of his or her calling.
In 1991 I completed YWAM’s Transcultural Missions School in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and in 1993 I married Isabel Santa Maria, (who is still my wife today). We served the Lord together for 7 years in the School of Missions located in Buenos Aires. During this time my daughter Yolanda Rios was born, and today she is a missionary in England. My second-born, Laura Ríos went to be with the Lord in an automobile accident during a missionary trip; a tragedy that left us confused about our calling. But God has been faithful to restore us and guide us to a new work, putting on our hearts the challenge to establish a missionary training center in Patagonia, Argentina.
We left Buenos Aires in 1998 and traveled south to the city of Bahía Blanca and then to Coronel Pringles. For two years we were praying and serving the Lord in these 2 cities, blessing pastors and congregations. But in January 2001 God confirmed that the YWAM base would be in the Patagonia region, in the city of Puerto Madryn, where we are today. Since that time we have faithfully served the Lord with all of our hearts, serving all churches and denominations, developing Discipleship Training Schools, Summer Schools, Winter Schools, discipling men and women.
We have also initiated missionary journeys to other countries in Africa, Central America, Europe and almost all of Latin America; our vision has expanded as God has graciously opened door after door. He has blessed us with an enormous number of workers: men and women from different parts of Argentina, and from other countries, hungry and thirsty to encounter the living God.
And I have no doubt that you are also part of this challenge, and so I encourage you not to doubt, not to be afraid to embrace the challenges that God puts in front of you. There will be big obstacles, but the presence of God is more powerful. We look forward to your arrival and God bless you.
